Jacquez Swanigan was selected as the winner of the 2013 Oh Say, Can You Sing? contest at Pops on the River on July 4. Naomi Meeks came in second followed by the group of Heather, Samantha, Alexis, Callie, and Cheyenne in third!
How does it work?
Ever dreamed of performing in front of a live audience? Here is your chance. Send us a video of yourself singing the national anthem and possibly win the opportunity to perform in front of 30,000 people at Pops on the River with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. You could also win $500!
From May 7th-June 2nd readers can upload videos of themselves singing the national anthem.
If you don't have a video or access to upload one, join us at Park Plaza Mall Saturday, May 18 from 10 to 4 p.m. in the seating area in front Dillard's East/Abercrombie & Fitch on the second floor. We will record you singing the national anthem and upload the video for you.
Online voting runs June 3-12. A panel of judges, along with the general public, will have the opportunity to narrow the field to the top-10 vocalists. The public picks 5 and the judges choose the other 5.
In the second round of voting, June 14-24, the public votes will be combined with the judge's scores to determine the top five finalists by noon on Tuesday, June 25th. Each finalist will sing a patriotic song at Pops on the River on July 4th. The audience response combined with judges scores will determine the winner at the event and the winner will sing that evening with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.
Can I still vote if the contest has already started?
Yes. As long as it is still within the voting period.
Can I vote more than once?
Yes. Registered users with a valid email may cast 10 votes per day. Come back every day to cast votes for your 10 favorite entries. Vote for the same person multiple times or spread your votes around.
Are there prizes?
The winner receives $500 cash and will sing with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra at Pops on the River on July 4th. Second place wins $250 and third place $100.
